BB King progression (#3) - Finished!!!

What a great learning experience. I'm pleased with how much progression I see in this piece compared to the Dude piece. This is my second digital painting and I gotta say I love this medium. So much so that I just purchased the Cintiq companion2 so that I can work on my art no matter where I am! So I should be able to finish these digital pieces much faster in the future. Which means faster progression at the medium and a happier Cecil. I hope everyone loves this piece, it will be in the B.B. King museum in Indianola, Mississippi soon!

Thanks for reading.

BB King progression (#2)

BB King is coming along well, I'm pretty happy with how things are turning out. I wanted to use the sign from his club in the background, both because it's so well known and it allows a reason for the light source I will be using on BB himself. Of course it had to be blue for the main color, and since there was going to be a ton of it I threw in a good amount of red to warm it up. Touches of green will be added as well as yellow, purple ,and orange for compliments and to create a visually appealing piece in my eyes and hopefully yours.

BB King Progression (#1)

I thought I'd start off my blog with a series of process pics all leading up to the finished BB King painting. I usually start with a tight sketch like this. First, I'll find a few different images to draw from. Hands from this pic, head from that pic, sign from that pic, etc. Then I look for a line of motion to exaggerate. As always, trying to give the piece some motion and lead your eye through the piece. Once happy I'll start the second step.
